A few hours of your time means so much to the seniors on the MorseLife our campus and in our community. We offer flexible schedules for our volunteers – you can give of your time and talents weekly, monthly, or even sporadically for special functions and programs.

The following are current volunteer opportunities:

MorseLife Meals-on-Wheels
Make weekly calls to recipients for their meal orders; plate the food in containers; pack orders for our drivers; or deliver to seniors of our community. MorseLife delivers 50,000 meals-on-wheels per year.

Morse Geriatric Center and Tradition Gift Shops
Assist with sales and inventory for our gift shops that sell jewelry, purses, giftware, candy and much more to our residents, family members, staff and guests.

Nearly New Thrift Shop
Located at 2218 South Dixie Highway, Nearly New Thrift Shop sells gently-used, designer clothing, shoes, handbags, furniture, jewelry and more that have been donated by the community. All funds generated by Nearly New Thrift Shop go toward resident services at Morse Geriatric Center.

Religious Services
Escort residents from the floors to our synagogue for Friday afternoon or Saturday morning Sabbath services. Help distribute head coverings, prayer books, and Kiddush food and wine.

Friendly Visits
Some of our residents have no family or family members are up north. Spend an hour of time visiting, reading, playing games, strolling outside around the lake with one or two residents to brighten their day.

Musicians, Historians, Crafters, Bingo Players, Jewelry Designers, Game & Card Players, Trivia Enthusiasts
Share your interests and/or skills in leading or assisting with the many recreational activities on our campus.

Group Performers
Do you have a special talent or creative skill you would like to share with our residents? We are always seeking chorale groups, instrumental groups, story tellers, singers, or dance groups that will entertain our residents.

Escorts
Transport our wheelchair-bound residents and patients throughout the building to activities, our medical clinic, physical therapy, religious services and more. You can also provide positive encouragement to the patients for motivation with their therapies.

Schaffer Adult Day Care
Lead or assist with activities and programs in our adult day center. Help serve breakfast or lunch to our participants.

Pet Therapy
If you have a registered therapy pet, we welcome you to visit and bring many smiles to our residents.

Office Work and Support
Answer phones, file paperwork, do shredding and more in our finance, homecare, medical office and other departments on campus.

Homebound Mitzvah Program for Passover and the High Holidays
Assist in pre-event packaging and/or delivering meals to seniors throughout Palm Beach County. We deliver over 2000 traditional holiday meal packages throughout the day during these one day events.

Jewish Hunger Response Events
MorseLife volunteers help serve 200 lonely seniors invited here to enjoy luncheons on Thanksgiving, Chanukah and Purim. This is a wonderful program for community or corporate groups.

Ice Cream Socials/ Happy Hour Fridays
Serve ice cream or drinks & snacks and socialize with our residents in the Lakeside Café.

Outing Escorts
During the winter season, our therapeutic recreation department schedules outings for the residents to restaurants, shopping trips, South Florida Fair, Palm Beach Zoo, museums and more. Escorts are needed to push wheelchairs and at restaurants to help place orders and cut up food if needed. MorseLife has a bus with a van lift for transportation.

Monthly Birthday Parties
At the end of each month, all the residents who celebrate a birthday are invited to have lunch in the auditorium. Volunteers socialize and serve lunch including birthday cake.

Beauty Shop
Escort residents from the floors to their beauty shop appointment. Help with basic services such as taking polish off nails, rollers out of hair.

Stroke Rehabilitation Program
Work with stroke victors and their families by teaching basic computer skills and speech therapy. You can also be a “phone buddy” to new stroke victors. Our goal is to help create a greater sense of independence for these individuals.

Unit Volunteers
Work with our social workers, therapeutic recreation and nursing staff on one of our floors. Answer phones, assist with activities, visit with residents and more.
