At MorseLife, more than 600 caring volunteers open their hearts to make a positive difference to the seniors we serve. The rewards of volunteerism are many, but none is as great as the knowledge that you can and do enhance the lives of those we serve. Volunteers are an integral part of our team, sharing in our commitment to caring for those we serve with the dignity and respect that they deserve.
Volunteering is a simple act of caring – and your commitment can really make a difference.
Anyone age 13 years and older is welcome to join our team of dedicated and caring volunteers. Our commitment is to match interests and experience with necessary volunteer roles. We also encourage our volunteers to set their own schedules – days or nights – a few hours per week – maybe just an hour or two per month. Whatever you can do means so much!
You may fill out an application online, print one from our website or pick one up at the volunteer department at (561) 687-5871. We will meet with you, explore your interests and come up with a meaningful volunteer role that works with your schedule.
At MorseLife, volunteers go through an orientation, and receive on-the-job training and supervision. Volunteers also receive free parking, an official uniform jacket, and a free lunch when working four hours or more in one day.
MorseLife volunteers represent a wide range of ages, backgrounds and interests. Adults comprise the majority of our volunteer force, contributing more than 25,000 hours annually. We also have an outstanding student program, with these volunteers contributing more than 2,000 hours of service each year. The following is how we reach out to our young volunteers:
Career Path Student Volunteers and Summer Student Program
Students enrolled in a career path or magnet high school program are eligible to participate in MorseLife’s volunteer program during the school year or for the summer program. The seniors for whom we care love to interact and work with young people from our community and what a wonderful way for students to learn about the field of senior care – and make a difference!
The MorseLife Career Path Volunteer Program is open to students who are required to fulfill their community service hours for high school. A letter of recommendation, including each student’s career path choice, is required from the student’s guidance counselor. Middle School students (at least 13 years of age) with a strong desire to volunteer in the health care field can also participate in the Summer Student Program. A letter of recommendation is required from a teacher or guidance counselor.
As an exception to the minimum age requirement, youngsters preparing for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah are also welcome to volunteer on a short-term basis to fulfill their Mitzvah requirements. A letter of recommendation is required from the Rabbi or the Hebrew School.
