More than 500 caring individuals recently spent a beautiful day playing cards and games, while at the same time sharing their passion for making a difference to seniors. The MorseLife Annual Spring Luncheon, held Wednesday, February 10 at The Mar-A-Lago Club in Palm Beach, offered some canasta, bridge and mahjong "excitement"; incredible shopping for exotic handbags, jewelry, gifts, sweaters and other fineries; and a sumptuous luncheon; while providing attendees the opportunity to help support MorseLife’s mission of enhancing lives of elders of our community.
JC Meyers was Chair of the event, assisted by Co-Chair Robin Bernstein and Marjorie Agran of Palm Beach Gardens who is Chairman for the Friends of MorseLife. Other committee chairs were Boutique Chair Doreen Lieberman, Raffle Chair Andrea Stark, Food and Beverage Chair Suzanne LeVine, Games Chair Carla Goldworm, Business Chairs Leslie Kaplan and Linda Stoch, and Advisors Beatrice W. Bloch, MorseLife Chairman and Terri Sriberg, MorseLife Vice Chairman and incoming Chairman. Table favors were compliments of Adrien Arpel who also attended the event.
JC Meyers noted she was very excited to chair the event, which included boutique vendors such as Jay Strongwater, Stubbs and Wooten, Jewels by Viggi from New York, wonderful raffle prizes including a year’s membership to the Yacht Club, a Judith Lieber handbag, a private catered dinner party by Christafaro’s, jewels from Circa and many more vendors and prizes. "The response from everyone to participate was outstanding and with over 500 people in attendance, this will assuredly help generate new support for MorseLife," JC said.
The Friends of MorseLife is a devoted group of community members - of various ages and interests - committed to enhancing the quality of life to the seniors served by MorseLife. Events such as this one help to pay for both designated gifts, flowers and wine for Shabbat and the holidays, events and outings and presents for residents of Morse Geriatric Center for Chanukah, Mother's Day and Father's Day. Additionally, the group provides funding for a music enhancement program and Direct TV service for all Morse Geriatric Center residents, special needs grants and in 2008, presented the nursing home with a wheelchair-accessible bus for outings.
Its final event of the winter season is the Friends of MorseLife 18th Annual Golf Classic, to be held on March 8 at The President Country Club in West Palm Beach. This event begins at 7:30 am with breakfast and registration, followed by a shot-gun start at 8:45 am and an awards luncheon at 1:00 pm. The Golf entrance fee is $300 per person and sponsorship opportunities are available.
