2008 Tzofim Friendship Caravan Visits MorseLife

Israel Scouting Group Brings Music and Inspiration to MorseLife Seniors

West Palm Beach, FL (June 12, 2008) – The residents at Morse Geriatric Center and The Tradition of the Palm Beaches on the MorseLife campus in West Palm Beach were recently given a wonderful “taste” of Israeli music and culture, courtesy of teenagers who are part of the Tzofim (Israeli Boy and Girl Scouts) Friendship Caravan.

Ten teens from Israel, traveling throughout North America as part of the Tzofim Friendship Caravan, spent the morning and afternoon entertaining and speaking with seniors in the long term care facility, Morse Geriatric Center, and with those who are residents of the independent and assisted living residence, The Tradition of the Palm Beaches.

Through music and dance, the youth gave the residents a look at the history and culture of Israel, its people and cultures and the hopes and aspirations of Israeli – young and old alike. Among the most moving elements, a young man from Ethiopia spoke about the challenges and joys of the new Israeli Jewish residents from that African country, and about their work with youngsters in Southern Israel who have never known a day without fighting and turmoil.

The Tzofim Friendship Caravan has been sending selected young Israeli Scouts to North America for thirty-five years. This year’s tour coincides with the 60th anniversary of Israel.

The event is one of many entertaining, informative and life-affirming programs available to residents of Morse Geriatric Center and The Tradition of the Palm Beaches. For more information, call (561) 687-5749.
