MorseLife Celebrates Those Who Generously Open Their Hearts To Seniors In 25th Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon

West Palm Beach, FL (February 18, 2008) - Nearly 600 people of all ages and back-grounds annually give generously of their time and energy as volunteers for MorseLife and its entities serving the needs of seniors of Palm Beach County. In recognition of their acts of caring, MorseLife recently held its annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon, paying special tribute to those who had given more than 2000 hours of their time, and those who had have reached 5, 10 and 20 year milestones.

Nadine Greenberg, MorseLife Director of Volunteers, presented a symbolic "check" to MorseLife President/CEO Keith Myers, MorseLife Chairman Bea Bloch and MorseLife Past Chairman Arthur Loring for $631,967 which represented the estimated value of the 33,669 hours achieved by all volunteers in the 2007 year. This was part of festivities at MorseLife’s recent Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, which honors the spirit and dedication of more than 600 people who volunteer regularly at MorseLife entities and in the community.

According to Nadine Greenberg, MorseLife Director of Volunteers, individual and group volunteers from throughout Palm Beach County have given 33,669 hours in the past year, working various capacities at Morse Geriatric Center, The Tradition of the Palm Beaches and Kramer Senior Services Agency. "MorseLife offers many enriching opportunities for adults and young people who are willing to give of their time and talents to others through volunteering," said Nadine. "We are so fortunate for their love and dedication - for their willingness to open their hearts to the seniors we serve on our campus and throughout the community."

In joining in the presentation, Arthur Loring, Past Chairman for MorseLife made note that it was through a volunteer role - delivering holiday meals and traditions in the organization’s Homebound Mitzvah Program - that he and his wife Vicki first connected with MorseLife. "We were so honored to play a role in making holidays better for people - we were touched and warmed by their smiles and hugs," he said. "From our experience, we know full well the impact of your work as volunteers -- you are clearly making our world a better place through your acts of kindness and caring."

Bea Bloch, Chairman for MorseLife, also was on hand at the recognition event, noting the memories of volunteers who helped to enhance her parents’ experience as residents at Morse Geriatric Center before they passed away. "MorseLife would not be the same without you," she said. "Through your time and the special "extras" you offer so unselfishly as volunteers, you truly make a difference and make our organization the special place that it is."

In his presentation, Keith Myers, President/CEO for MorseLife, encouraged people from the audience to discuss the rewards of volunteerism and to encourage others to follow their lead. "I am so touched by the love and passion I witness every day when I see many of you," he said. "I love listening to your own personal stories - your own feelings about how volunteerism impacts not just MorseLife and those you help in your work."

At the end of the program, Nadine gave special recognition to honorees and presented a symbolic "check" to Keith Myers, Bea Bloch and Arthur Loring for $631,967 which represented the estimated value of the 33,669 hours achieved by all volunteers in the 2007 year.

Ms. Greenberg notes that MorseLife offers many enriching opportunities for adults and young people who are willing to give of their times and their hearts to others through volunteerism. These include everything from ranging from visiting with residents, sharing talents and skills, working in the Morse Geriatric Center Gift Shop and Nearly New Shop, to delivering kosher meals to homebound seniors, providing clerical support and assisting with religious activities. "The goal of the Volunteer Department is to match people with their specific talents, experience and interests," she said. "It is wonderful to see so many individuals of all ages and backgrounds willing to make a difference."
