Lorings Honor Senior Living

West Palm Beach, FL. (December 19, 2007) -- Keith Myers, president/CEO of MorseLife, recently announced a gift of $2 million to the MorseLife Institute for Geriatric Research and Education by Vicki and Arthur Loring.

The Loring’s gift reflects the couple's long interest in enhancing lives of seniors and in philanthropic giving. Vicki and Arthur first became involved in MorseLife when Arthur retired at age 50 as General Counsel of Fidelity Investments after 25 years in Boston. Spending most of his time in Palm Beach, where the Lorings lived for nearly ten years, he was asked to serve on the organization's Investment Committee. Loring said he could understand MorseLife’s interest in getting him involved. "There I was, 50 years old, in Palm Beach, with more free time and a desire to be useful.” The Lorings commitment intensified when Vicki¹s mother, ill with Alzheimer¹s disease, became a resident at Morse Geriatric, "The care was superb," says Vicki. This February 2008, Arthur Loring will complete four years as chairman of MorseLife and move on in his role as President-Elect of the Palm Beach Jewish Federation.

The Loring gift was announced at the annual Friends of MorseLife gala, the Butterfly Ball, held December 13 at The Breakers. In presenting the gift, the Lorings voiced a strong belief in the Institute for Geriatric Research and Education’s research plans geared to help shape the future of health care delivery for this country’s older adults. "The Institute for Geriatric Research and Education represents an incredible opportunity for MorseLife to gain national prominence as an innovator in making a difference to the lives of seniors," noted Mr. Loring. "As evidence of our passion and support, we are proud to announce our $2 million gift to support MorseLife in its continuing work to perform cutting edge research in this area."
