The Joy of Giving

“I wish I could do more. Whatever you give, the joy of giving comes back to you somehow.”

Philanthropy is all about making a difference – connecting people who care with causes that matter to them. People like Honey Bitterman, a member of our Legacy Society, are doing just that by including MorseLife in their estate plans. As a result they are solidifying the future of MorseLife and making certain that we will be here for future generations of older adults who will need our services as they age.

“I feel very glad about my decision to include MorseLife in my estate plans,” Honey states with conviction. “I wish I could do more. Whatever you give, the joy of giving comes back to you somehow.”

Honey has a long history of supporting causes that are important to her and her family. Among her first acts of philanthropy, she became actively involved in fundraising for a hospital in Denver, where her oldest child was being treated for asthma. “It made me feel good to know that I helped in some way,” she said of that experience.

Her connection with MorseLife began in 2004 when she chose Morse Geriatric Center as the perfect residence for her husband. Later that year, she moved into an apartment at The Tradition of the Palm Beaches to be closer to him, being able to walk across the campus to visit, often bringing him to The Tradition for meals on Sundays.

Until his passing at the end of 2005, Honey says she was “very happy” with his care. She later personally experienced the excellent care at the Levine Rehabilitation Center at Morse when she recuperated from heart surgery last spring. Honey speaks highly of the quality and outcome of her care. Today, she is back in her beautiful apartment, enjoying and living her life to its fullest.

Keith Myers, President/CEO for MorseLife, speaks with appreciation about the passion of Honey and other members of the Legacy Society. “We are so grateful to see generous supporters like Honey choosing to include MorseLife in their estate plans,” he said. “Let’s face it – planned gifts are our future, and in these tough economic times, we have a great need to persuade philanthropic individuals like Honey to embrace our mission of honoring senior living in perpetuity.”
